Member Benefits & Eligibility
More than an account. Membership that puts you first.
What does it mean to be a member?
When you join Heritage South, you’re not just opening an account. You become a member and part-owner of a not-for-profit financial cooperative.
That means our focus stays on the people we serve, with local decision-making, straightforward services, and a team willing to listen to your story.
Membership that comes with more
A Voice
Every member gets one vote when electing our volunteer board, no matter how much money they have on deposit.
Local Support
The people helping you live and work in the communities we serve, with decisions made closer to home.
Everyday Access
Manage your accounts online or through the Heritage South app, plus access more than 30,000 surcharge-free ATMs.
More Ways Forward
From everyday accounts and loans to second-chance options and credit-building solutions, we’ll look at the whole picture and help you understand your options.
Your membership can come with a little extra
Being a Heritage South member may come with more ways to save. Eligible members can qualify for Loyalty Bonus rate benefits, plus access special offers and discounts available through Heritage South.
From potential savings on qualifying loans and boosted certificate rates to member-only partner offers, it pays to see what your membership could unlock.
Who can join?
Could Heritage South be your credit union?
Membership is open to people who live, work, worship, or attend school in the communities we serve.
Counties We Serve
Bedford, Marshall, Rutherford, Cannon, and Maury counties.
Additional Communities
Tullahoma, Manchester, Winchester, Decherd, and Fayetteville.

Membership can run in the family
Immediate family members of current Heritage South members may also qualify, including spouses, children, siblings, parents, grandparents, grandchildren, stepparents, stepchildren, and step-siblings.
And once you become a member, your membership can stay with you even if where you live or work changes, as long as your membership remains in good standing.

Have an ITIN instead of a Social Security number?
You may still be able to become a Heritage South member.
We work with eligible individuals who use an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) rather than a Social Security number.
Because identification requirements can vary, contact us or visit a location and we’ll help you understand what you need to open your account.
